Do you consider yourself someone who carries and maintains enough courage to stand firm protecting and defending your convictions, your personal codes of honor and your freedoms? Have you ever been tested in these realms? How did you fare? Do you know or remember the name of this brave man pictured below? Have you read his story? I begin my post today with a tribute to Fang Zheng-who on June 4, 1989 literally "stood up" against the Communist Chinese government and it's military might. What happened to him afterward is briefly described in this piece published by the Epoch Times May 28, 2019-noting the 30th anniversary of the event. Here is a short excerpt: "On that fateful morning of June 4, Fang Zheng was one of the protesting students in Tiananmen Square. Fang was a graduating student from Beijing Athletics University and was almost 6 feet tall. A younger female schoolmate was with him. When the curfew troops ordered the students to leave the square, they exited from the southeast corner of the square, walking down West Chang’an Street. All of a sudden, he saw tanks rolling quickly toward them from behind. In a moment of adrenaline, he pushed the female schoolmate over the side bike railing, but it was too late for him to escape the tank. His last memory before he passed out was seeing the barrel of the tank through a sideways glance, and then seeing the white bones of his crushed legs" I recommend you read the full post at the link: epochtimes.today/in-memory-of-the-tiananmen-square-massacre/ ![]() While Chinese government censors have re-written this history and deliberately mischaracterized the peaceful protest and the CCP's violent response in 1989, this photograph - which circled the globe even before social media - this image has become an icon. Fang Zheng's staunch posture against the brute, mechanical force of tyranny is still a symbol of courage, of right against might. It is also eerily prophetic, a warning that we must "stand strong" against the roll out of communism in all it's forms-no matter what the personal sacrifice. The day after the remembrance holiday of Memorial Day in the USA, during the imposed "lockdown" in many parts of the United States, it is more important than ever for us to ask the questions I pose at the beginning of this article. It is instructive to note that during the protests 30 years ago in China, people built and brought in "statues of liberty" created to look like the original Statue of Liberty in New York. Their actions and cries hearkened back to American patriot Patrick Henry from Virginia, who exclaimed in 1775, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Patrick Henry made his convictions, values and his priorities crystal clear. How many Virginians will do so today?! The ability to be stalwart, staunch in the face of adversaries and hardship is not innate. We are not born with this attribute, we have to learn, practice, refine and test this character trait. We have to do this as an individual, as a family, as a community and as a nation. We have to be vigilant and alert to those "forces" which seek to weaken our resolve, to censor our expression, to hinder our progress and disable our capabilities. The Chinese government has used every tactic of "soft power" (see my blog post linked: www.jopatti.com/blog/soft-power-hard-choices) to influence/control as many aspects of American society, culture and even thought processes as they can. For a more detailed discussion read "Controlling Cognitive Domains" as well. smallwarsjournal.com/jrnl/art/controlling-cognitive-domains My previous posts have discussed the Wuhan virus as bioweapon and the social engineering agenda of this Plandemic over the last four months. Today I wanted to bring attention to other human beings who were born and raised in China, but who have more in common with the foundations of America's Republic than many American citizens. Most will never be known publicly. It is too dangerous for them and their families, but they definitely exist and yearn for the freedoms they have heard about in the "west". How do I know this? Not just from reading but from living in China, albeit in one province, Henan...and in one particular, special place...a Shaolin Kung Fu training center. I left China in April 2019. Almost everyone in my immediate family has worked in China at some point, since the 1980s. Over the last decades (more than 30 years) I have had direct contact with Chinese medicine doctors and martial artists who were able to flee from China and who have their own direct, personal experience of the CCP. Just as many American citizens are divided in their political views and life style choices, so are many Chinese; though they have to keep their views "along the party lines" or the consequences are severe. See this video for specific examples of Chinese government leverage in the USA and what has happened in Hong Kong as a cautionary history-open your eyes and ears before they are closed for you-ask yourself if you can remain stalwart. You/we will be tested, of that you can be certain.
